Weston General Hospital, Somerset

Weston General Hospital is run by Weston Area Health NHS Trust in Somerset. Following a meeting with the Head of Estates and Facilities for the Trust, Exled were asked to update the current dark traditional lighting to provide a cost effective LED solution. These changes include reducing utility bills by using cost effective, low energy lighting.

The Requirement:-
To provide sustainable, cost-effective, high quality lighting for several crucial areas of the hospital including: the corridors, wards and stairwells.

This gave NHS Somerset the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to reducing their environmental footprint while reducing energy expenditure by using new LED technology.

The Solution:-
Exled visited the site and conducted a site survey to ensure that our recommendations fitted in with the CIBSE Healthcare lighting designs. From our findings we recommended our Nova 3 panels from our Solara range for the ward areas and our Elite T10 tubes for the stairwells.
For extra savings we suggested that the client might like to install sensors to only turn the lights on when they are needed. Our Nova 3 panel will only produce 39 watts complete and the 1500mm tubes only produce 23 Watts compared to 58 Watts for a fluorescent tube.

The Outcome:-
159 Nova 3 panels and 29 of the T10 tubes have been fitted throughout the hospital providing a beautiful source of eco-friendly illumination.

Staff have commented on the improvements in light quality and the general well-being the hospital LED lighting improvements have made for its patients.

Nova has fulfilled its promise – high quality lighting which doesn’t cost the earth.
